Ray Collins And The Visual Symphony Of Waves

“Waves are the voices of tides. Tides are life," murmured Niko. "They bring new food for shore creatures, and take ships out to sea. They are the ocean's pulse, and our own heartbeat.”

Australian photographer Ray Collins has managed to turn his love for the sea into a way of living through his impressive and stunning work.

He bought his first camera in the year 2007, almost at the same time that he quit his job as a coal miner. Since then he has collaborated with National Geographic, Apple, Vogue, Nikon and Patagonia.

His art manages to capture the singular power of water in each of its states, from peaceful and calm to tempestuous and clamorous.

Currently Collins travels around the world doing what he loves most; immortalizing the ephemeral.

“You never really know what's coming. A small wave, or maybe a big one. All you can really do is hope that when it comes, you can surf over it.”
