Big Cities Illuminated by Only the Light of The Stars

“Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground.”

- Theodore Roosevelt

We have forgotten how the Milky Way is in all its splendor. We have stopped looking at the sky because the stars are scarcely perceived. What are we missing?

Darkened Cities is the name which photographer Thierry Cohen decided to give to his work which purpose is to show the skies we would all see at night, if there were no atmospheric nor light pollution.

In order to do this Cohen traveled the world; from the largest metropolises such as Hong Kong and New York, to the most deserted points on the planet, such as the Mojave Desert and the Amazon. The result?

For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

- Vincent Van Gogh
